About workshop
London will be London post COVID19 LockDown but change will be even more rapid so what does that mean in the built environment? This workshop will explore:
- Public Transport in London 2021 and beyond: what do we need? How can rush hour have its ‘curve flattened’? Where will people want to get to and from (and when)?
- Demand for dwellings: central or doughnut; larger or smaller; cheap or reassuringly expensive; owner-occupied or rented (or some of each); long term, short term, aparthotel to supplement country mansion?
- Commercial office space – matching supply to requirement: Hot desking; Greater periods of occupation due to flexible working; Communications links to those working remotely; Will we ‘change’ or revert to ‘normal’?
- Retail practice and delivery – is it time for a radical rethink: Do you want to ‘go to the shops’ Is self-select supermarket trolley filling still sensible; If the window is the most important thing for fashion, why have deep space full of racks of different sizes further back?
- Leisure Occupiers: When will the sport be allowed again and will it be viable ‘as was’ or what must change – if change then HOW; When can we ‘eat out’ as we used to and will we want to; if not how do the new eateries need to look and feel; Clubs bars and pubs are expected to be last out of lockdown – will any of them be left and might some emerge earlier if they can ‘adapt’?
