    Up and Coming UK Businesses

    The UK Economy has continued to be fairly resilient in the face of much uncertainty over the last 12 months and we are still seeing new businesses that are emerging and continuing to grow. Let’s take a look at some of the current most up and coming UK based businesses that we can expect to see great things from in the coming months and years.

    Zen Internet

    In a country where consumers and businesses are always going to complain about broadband speeds Manchester based independent internet provider Zen have continued to grow and keep coming out on top in the Which? Customer satisfaction scores. 2014 saw them create 3 customer facing divisions; small business and residential, corporate and mid market and partnerships and this decision is really paying off.

    Transferwise

    Transferwise is now finally on the verge of profitability after experiencing losses of more than £17m in 2016. They saw massive growth and an increase of 140% in sales in 2017 up to £67m. Transferwise is probably the UK’s most famous Fin Tech start up and have started to provide much needed competition for banks who provide international money transfer at very high costs.

    Dark Trace

    Dark Trace made impressive sales in the last 12 months of £31m, which is very impressive considering they were only founded in 2013. The company is made up of mathematicians from Cambridge, who teamed up with government cyber intelligence experts. Dark Trace is now widely regarded as one of the world leaders in using artificial intelligence to aid cyber security.

    InTouch Games

    This is a gaming company, based in the West Midlands and are the parent company behind well known iGaming and bingo brands such as Dr Slot, Pocketwin and mFortune. These guys are highly regarded for their expertise in developing exclusive slot and casino games in house. Last year InTouch Games announced plans to create another 150 jobs and also renovate their offices in Halesowen.

    Bulb

    Bulb is an East London based energy tech start up, who were named the fastest growing tech company of 2018, by investment platform SyndicateRoom. Bulb uses software to reduce energy costs for customers across the UK and they are really making waves in the energy industry, by focusing on renewable energy.

    Lyst

    Lyst is a global fashion search engine, based in the UK, that are able to connect consumers with 11,000 different fashion designers and stores throughout the world. They use a technology platform that is able to curate the shopping experience of all their users. Lyst was founded in 2010 but has grown a massive 134.8x since 2015, which is very impressive and the main reason the business is receiving a lot of attention at present.

    Thankfully many new businesses are continuing to appear in the UK and succeed both domestically and worldwide, even in the current climate and will continue to do so.
