Carter Lemon Camerons, which was one of the first UK law firms to offer a service specialising in drone law, is in the running for a major legal award, it has been confirmed.
The multi-disciplinary drones and autonomous technologies team at Carter Lemon Camerons LLP is shortlisted in the Innovation category at the Modern Law Awards.
It was last year that the firm brought together a team of specialists to advise a range of clients on the legal considerations arising from the proliferation of such technologies.
The announcement follows a rigorous judging process which saw the firm make a detailed written submission setting out in detail how its drones and autonomous technologies service represents an important innovation in the sector.
Rufus Ballaster said: “Drones and autonomous technologies bring with them some novel legal considerations and these will substantially influence how they are used in practice.
“We recognised the need at an early stage for drone users and others affected by drones to be able to seek advice from a multidisciplinary team of specialists on the evolving regulations governing their use and we have already received our first instructions.
“It is wonderful that the judges have recognised this important innovation by shortlisting Carter Lemon Camerons LLP and we are looking forward to hearing whether the team has been successful in winning one of the Modern Law Awards.”
The winners of the Awards will be announced at a glittering ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel on 18 January 2018.
A Practical Guide to Drone Law was recently published by Law Brief Publishing, having been co-written by Partners of the firm, Rufus Ballaster and Andrew Firman, with consultant to the firm, Eleanor Clot. The book is intended to help a professional audience navigate through the rapidly evolving regulatory environment in which drones operate.
