Meet Georgia
Georgia is a strong and great girl.
We have looking after Georgia for a few years. Our Healthcare Assistant saved her life. During the night, Georgia stopped breathing. Ewa, the Polish carer, took a rescue operation and saved the girl.
Ryan is a great man with unwavering determination
Ryan dreamed of white Christmas in Poland.
We made it possible for him, despite the obstacles and logistical difficulties with 3 days of travel, we reach Poland together with Ryan, where he could enjoy the white holidays he dreamed of
It all started fifteen years ago. I was looking after a disabled young lady but only during the daytime. Night after night, for many years, her parents had been waking up, checking on her and making her comfortable. She was their daughter, and they loved her unconditionally, but the years of not sleeping were very tiring for them to the point of exhaustion at times. This was when we began talking of a respite place for her. However, the nearest one was in Oxford, which was too far to travel, and in Essex, there was nothing suitable. Yes, there are places for children and the elderly have care and nursing homes. But what about places for young adults and adults alike, they would not feel good being in care homes; there was not much to offer.
Now came the idea – how fantastic would it be to create such a place, offering a safe place for respite and support to young people? What if we add physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, lovely views, a place of fun! A place that means parents and carers can have a break knowing that their loved ones are well looked after. This project was a dream, a dream which can now be a reality.
We have been running Amber Healthcare Services for 10 years and we are experts caring for clients – adults and children with complex disabilities, but we are also experts in making dreams come true. Our motto is "Not if we are going to do it, but how we are going to do it." Following our motto has meant our clients are now able to travel, some are leaving their houses to visit family or the shops for the first time after many years, they are going on holidays (even abroad), football fans are able to go and watch live matches, and so much more.
A couple of months ago I noticed this fantastic property, Shoebury House, I fell in love with it straight away, it was ideal for creating a respite place for young people, close to the sea with huge potential. I started to think about it more, could the dream become a reality? Now we managed to receive a loan for almost 90% of necessary funds. We have a small amount that is still outstanding, that's why we are asking for your help, your support and your donations. We are asking you to be part of the creation of this dream – this fantastic place for disabled people where they will be able to rest, have fun, take part in activities, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and much more...
Shoebury House will need to be adapted for usage by disabled people; hoists installed, ramps fitted, bathrooms adapted. Other buildings on the property (two barns) can also be developed into hydrotherapy and physiotherapy rooms. The usage of this fantastic property will need to be changed, as for years this magnificent house has been the home to a lovely couple and their children. We would like to change it now and we would like to give it back to the community.
Let's create this project together, let's make this a place for all of us to be proud of – an amazing respite place for disabled young people and adults.
